Ms. Lola Mae Lanier Scarboro, 93, of NC HWY 49, Denton passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 18 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Hardy, Rev. Ron Chaney and Rev. Danny Hosler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Scarboro was born October 17, 1925 in Randolph County to Frank Lanier and Elma Russell Lanier. She was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as Sunday School Secretary and helped with the Christmas Play. Lola retired from Black and Decker and General Electric after 40 plus years and later went back to work for Walmart. She was known for her cooking and sharing her pound cakes with others. In addition to her parents Lola was also preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Lee Scarboro; brothers, David and Paul Lanier; sister, Elwina Shaw; and son-in-law, Ben Williams.
She is survived by sons, Frankie Scarboro and wife Glenda and Bobby Scarboro and wife Patricia; daughter, Linda Scarboro Williams all of Denton; sisters, Margurite Nance, Betty Jo Yates, and Ann See all of Denton; 6 grandchildren, Derald Williams, Mark Williams (Regina), Kevin Scarboro (Michelle) , Derek Scarboro, Stephanie Jones (Kevin), and Tonya Johnson (Danny); 18 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
