Lillie Mae Kirkman

Mrs. Lillie Mae Hinshaw Kirkman, age 93 of Bingham Street, Denton, NC died Friday, September 28 at Thomasville Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 30 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Clodfelter and Rev. Joe Collins. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends at the Church from 1:30 until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the service and other times will be at the residence. Mrs. Kirkman was born May 4, 1919 in Randolph County to William Hinshaw and Lillie Williamson Hinshaw. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and on the Communion Committee. She had worked in Hosiery manufacturing and at Belk’s Department Store. She was preceded in death by a son, William L. Jones. She is survived by her husband, former Denton Mayor, C. Ray Kirkman of the home, sons Greg Kirkman and wife Denise of Raleigh and Jeff Kirkman and wife Kim of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Ann G. Jones of Summerville, SC; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 126, Denton, NC 27239
