Lillian Garner Owens

Lillian Garner Owens, 83, of NC HWY 47, Lexington, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sammy Allison officiating.

Lillian was born on May 10, 1940, in Davidson County to James Lewis Garner and Grace Woodle Garner. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Lillian retired from Davidson County Schools after 30 years as a teacher at Denton High School and later South Davidson High School, where she made such an impact on so many of her students. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ben Owens, and a brother, J.D. Garner

She is survived by sons, Marty Owens of High Point and Mark Owens of Lexington; daughter, Annette McCarthy of Arizona; brother, Charles Garner (Sherry) of Denton, and sister, Pat G. Baker (Grey) of Denton; 5 grandchildren, Lindsey Borja, Miranda Norris, Zachary Dobbins, Edie Owens, and Benjamin Owens; 6 great-grandchildren,
