Lester Parrish

December 13, 1916 — October 24, 2006

Mr. C. Lester Parrish, age 89, of Jackson Creek Road, Denton, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at his home. Funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. at Pierce’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Johnny Ray Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Parrish was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Randolph County to Onslow and Velora Wood Parrish. He had worked as a self-employed logger and had also worked at Harrelson Rubber Company in Asheboro. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Pierce’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Mae Loflin Parrish in 1972; and by a grandson, Neil Kindley. Survivors are wife, Letha Gordon Parrish of the home; stepson, Edward Loflin and wife, Susan, of Denton; daughters, Carol Parrish of Denton, Bonnie Swaney and husband, Donald, of Asheboro, and Kathy Bowers and husband, Dwight, of Thomasville; sisters, Lela Briles and Blanche Bray, both of Trinity; grandchild, Nathan Kindley; two step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton, and other times at the residence on Jackson Creek Road.
