Lester Greene, Sr.

Mr. Lester Talmadge Greene, Sr. 97, formerly of Troy, NC passed away on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at Biscoe Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Shirlen.

Mr. Greene was born in Montgomery County on November 18, 1924, to Jimmy Greene and Monnie Greene Greene. He attended Biscoe Christian Church and was a supervisor in the textile industry. Mr. Greene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. One of his pastimes was playing golf with his  family and friends, especially his grandson. His golfing highlights were scoring two holes-in-one, shooting a round of par golf and scoring less than his age many times. He also loved playing the banjo with his granddaughter and performing in local churches and nursing homes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Greene was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Simmons Greene.

He is survived by son, Jay Greene and wife Sandra of Liberty; daughter, Brenda Jones and husband Larry of Charlotte; 2 grandchildren, Matthew Edwards and wife Lark, and Heather Knowles and husband Kale; and 8 great-grandchildren.
