Leroy Alvic Powers

Mr. Leroy Alvic Powers, 76, of NC HWY 8, Lexington, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Lexington Health Care Center.

A graveside service will he held at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 11, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Mr. Powers was born on July 26, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Lawton Powers and Laura Powers. Growing up on a horse and cattle farm, Leroy spent a lot of his youth riding, breaking horses and helping with selling horses and cattle. He went on to serve in the United States Army and earn his associate’s degree in science. Leroy retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and he enjoyed watching professional wrestling and collecting vintage comic books.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Anna Irons Powers and a son, Scott Martin.

He is survived by daughters, Sheryl Gillette of FL, and Catherine Powers of FL; brother, Ellis Dangerfield of FL, and his beloved dog, Marley.

Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is serving the Powers family.
