Leonard Lee King, 81, of Denton died Wednesday, April 2 at his residence after a short illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tim Miller and Rev. David Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington with Military graveside honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. King was born October 26, 1926 in Forsyth County to Clarence and Gladys Hurd King. He retired as a guard for Davidson County Landfill and was a Navy Veteran having served on the USS North Carolina during World War II. Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife Velna King in 2002. Survivors include daughters, Martha Dow of the home, and Debra Roe of Thomasville; sons, Roger King of Little River, SC and Richard King of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Leona Harrison, Timothy Spence, Kendra Thomas, Tabitha Mitchell, Madison King, and Quin King; and ten great grandchildren. The family will see friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence. Memorials can be made to Davidson County Hospice, P.O.
