Lena Smith Vredenburg

Lena Smith Vredenburg, 92, of Vredenburg Lane, Candor, died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Greens at Pinehurst.  Funeral Service will be 2 PM Monday, May 13, 2019 at Macedonia Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Matthew Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Candor Cemetery.   Born May 5, 1927, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of William Mack and Roberta Leach Smith.  She was a former textile worker and had worked in lawn care.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Columbus Vredenburg in 1984.   She is survived by her son, Michael “Buddy” Vredenburg of Candor; 2 daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Hogan of Candor and Susan “Suzie” Smith of Candor; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the home of Becky Hogan, Leach Rd., Candor.
