Lena Gann Martin

Lena Gann Martin, 95, of Candor, went to be with her Lord, Monday, March 15, 2010 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living Center in Candor. Mrs. Martin was born February 18, 1915 in Moore County, NC, a daughter of the late Grady and Rosa Martin Gann. She was a member of Center Baptist Church, had attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and along with her husband Troy farmed peaches and tobacco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Martin; brothers, Tyler and James Gann and a great grandson Troy Alexander. Surviving are her children, Emily Reynolds, Wayne Martin, Charles Martin and wife Gloria, all of Charlotte, Sylvia Morgan and husband Robert of Humble, TX; six grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Springer of Charlotte, Elsie Hampton and husband Raymond of Greensboro, Mildred Hill and husband Charles of Claudeville, VA; brother, Gilbert Gann of Mayodan and her ever faithful and protective dog Sam. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Briggs Candor Funeral Home with Rev. Anne Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Candor Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:00 –2:15 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
