Lawrence Buie

Mr. G. Lawrence Buie, 80, of Healing Springs Drive, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 24 at First Baptist Church, by Rev. Vern Peterson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mr. Buie was born June 27, 1930 in Guilford County to Grover Cleveland Buie and Vera Elkers Buie. He served as the Davidson County managing agent for the NC Farm Bureau Insurance Co. He had also owned and operated Buie Sales and Service for 21 years and was a farmer. He helped organize and served on the Board of Directors for the Handy Sanitary District and also helped organize and served as president of the Healing Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Buie had served on the Board of Directors of the Davidson County Farm Bureau Federation and had been active in the Denton High School Booster Club. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served as a flight engineer and was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Little Buie of the home; his sons, Randall Buie of Salisbury, Greg Buie and Scott Buie, both of Denton; his daughter, Alisa Buie Cashatt and husband, Davis, of Randleman; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
