Ellerbe-Lawrence H. Broadway Lawrence Hartwell Broadway, age 75, formerly of 322 Allred Rd., Ellerbe, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Pinehurst. Funeral Service will be 1:30 PM Friday, March 28, 2008, at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Glenn Hancock offciating. Burial will follow in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Broadway was born October 29, 1932, the son of Elmer H. Broadway and Sudie Thompson. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. He lived in Richmond County all of his life until moving to a nursing home in 2001. He served in the Korean War in the mid 1950s. Lawrence had many friends and lived his life to the fullest. He had been in failing health for many years, but always kept a positive attitude and was an inspiration to his family and friends. Mr. Broadway is survived by his daughter, Belinda Broadway, who has been a resident of O'Berry Center in Goldsboro since age 4; 2 sisters, Ann B. Asbill and husband Gene of Biscoe and Lucille B. Thompson and husband Hugh of Raleigh. He is also survived by four nephews, Larry Asbill, Roger Asbill and wife Sherry, and Tony Asbill and their families, all of Cary, and Ty Thompson and wife JaRee of South Riding, VA; one niece Kim Samaha and husband Georges and thier children of Paris, France. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the service Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
