Larry Joe Cook, born on April 16, 1946, in Davidson County, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. He lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his profession, and his cherished hobbies.

A graduate of Ashmore Business College, Larry devoted much of his working years to Southeastern Supply Company in Thomasville, NC, where he served as a part-time salesperson and office manager. His professional commitment and work ethic were notable aspects of his life, reflecting a steady and dependable character.

Beyond his career, Larry found joy and fulfillment in his passion for redoing vintage license plates and restoring classic cars. This enduring interest was a special bond he shared with his beloved grandson, Jake, highlighting the close connections he treasured within his family.

Larry was a devoted family man who loved spending time with those closest to him. He is survived by his wife, LaRue Williams Cook; his daughter, Lavonda Cook Loflin, and her husband, Phil; his grandson, Jake Loflin; his sister, Jan Cook Cole, and her husband, Allen; as well as Paul Cole, his special nephew, and great-nieces, Savannah Cole and Kendall Cole. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Cook and Evelyn Goodwin Cook.

Friends and family will gather to honor Larry’s memory with visitation at Briggs Funeral Home, 103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239, on May 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the same location with Rev. Chris Smith officiating. Interment will take place at Denton Town Cemetery.

Larry Joe Cook’s legacy is defined by the warmth and love he shared with his family and the lasting impression he made on those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will continue with those who loved him dearly, a testament to a life well lived and deeply appreciated.
