Larry Devon Cook

Larry Devon Cook, 78, of Alleghany Church Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 17, at Alleghany United Methodist Church with Dr. Fred Ingle and Rev. Richard Gould officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Larry was born August 28, 1944, in Davidson County, to Hubert Ree Cook and Doris Holt Cook. Larry had been employed with Schult Homes in Richfield for 47 years. He was a member of Alleghany United Methodist Church. Larry never met a stranger and enjoyed traveling, gardening, working on the farm, and watching trains. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Ree Cook, and by a son, Dennis Devon Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Varner Cook of Denton; a son, Darren Scott Cook of Denton; mother, Doris Holt Cook of Denton; sisters, Sharon Metts of Charlotte, and Letha Thompson (John) of Albemarle; 2 grandchildren, Nicole Goodwin and Brandon Cook; 1 great-grandchild, Kylan Goodwin; niece and nephews, Daniel Thompson, Sarah Thompson, and Joshua Metts.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at Alleghany UMC.
