On Friday, September 11, 2020, Lane Bivens, loving husband, father and uncle, passed away at the age of 54 after a six-day struggle following a stroke.
Lane was born November 12, 1965 in Lexington, NC to John Otis and Kate Floyd Bivens. Lane was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kent. Lane is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughters Jessica Bivens and Summer Rawls and husband Thomas, all of Denton; grandchildren Maci, Preslee and Parker. Brother Mark and wife Kim, nieces Emma and Hannah, all of Charlotte.
Lane was a loving and giving person who never met a stranger. He had a friendly spirit and enjoyed helping others. Lane’s passion was hunting, fishing and riding his 4-wheeler. His love of his family, children and grandchildren was always evident. Lane never missed an opportunity to “pick” on his many family members, including his cousins. Lane was an Eagle Scout and had a deep passion for all sports, especially South Davidson Athletics and the UNC Tar Heels. As a member of New Jerusalem Reformed Church, Lane was a past President of the Consistory.
The family would like to thank all family and friends for the many prayers during this difficult time. They would also like to thank Winston-Salem Baptist hospital for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Lane’s life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denton Wesleyan Church Pavilion led by the Pastor Charlie Collins. Due to COVID 19 concerns, please provide your own chair and social distance to fit your comfort level.
