Knox East

Julian Knox East, 82, formerly of Mt. Gilead, died Monday, July 06, 2009 at Autumn Care of Biscoe. A Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Little River UMC Cemetery. Mr. East was born March 31, 1927 in Richmond County to Sam East and Helen Iona East. He was a veteran of US Navy having served on the USS Naunser in the Pacific Theater during WWII, He was a member of Little River United Methodist Church, and a truck driver. Survivors include, wife; Jane East of Birmingham, AL, daughters; Janice McKinney of Birmingham, AL, Patricia Smith of Cleveland, TN, Julia Joy Mitchell of Troy, and Jeannie Day of Efland, brothers; Wilton East of Mt. Gilead, sisters; Marie McQueen and Betty Dennis of Ellerbe, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Arrangements are by Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
