Kermit Leon Kern, 85, of Seeley Drive died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Denton with Rev. Charles Tanner and Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Kern was born April 1, 1931 in Randolph County, the son of Theodore Kermit and Laura Freeman Kern. He was a retired restaurant owner and a Veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his son Randy Kern in 1986, his parents and a sister Norma Lee Webb. He is survived by his wife Edith Saunders Kern of the home; a brother, David Kern and wife Dede of Asheboro; 4 sisters, Carolyn Dunn of Burlington, Nona Ruth Maness of Star, Vickie Cranford of Asheboro, and Linda Beane and husband Junior of Mt. Gilead. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
