Kenneth Shaw, age 78, of Hwy. 49 South, Denton died Monday, October 12 at his home. Funeral service for Mr. Shaw will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 15 at Briggs Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Shaw was born September 26, 1931 in Davidson County to Hal Ray and Ruby Marie Chandler Shaw. He was retired from the U. S. Army following 20 years of service with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer CW3. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, spending time in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS and The Military Officers Association. He was retired owner of Shaw Equipment and was a farmer. He was a past member of the Cattlemen Association. Mr. Shaw was of the Methodist faith. He was a loving husband devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal Ray Shaw and Ruby Marie Chandler Shaw Garner, brother, Von D. Shaw, half-brother, Dewey Garner, step-brothers, Melvin Garner, Clyde Garner, Vernon Garner, Lester Garner and Thurman Garner, step-sisters, Ruby Rash, Hazel Snider, Virgie Smith and Doris Peacock . Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife, Paula “Kay” Voss Shaw of the home, one daughter Maria R. Shaw and fiancée Eddie Dombrowski of Farmer, one brother, Donald Ray Shaw of Thomasville, one sister Anna Mae Burleson of Maryland, two half-brothers, N. A. Garner and James Garner, both of Denton, step-brothers, Nolan Garner of Lexington and Von T. Garner of Denton, two half-sisters, Patty Sue Meisenheimer of Burlington and Gayle Lamb of Boiling Springs, one beloved granddaughter, Cristen Payne and boyfriend Jesse Martin of Farmer and Three great-grandchildren, Kelsie, MaKenzie, and Jesse, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials sent to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Building Fund 512 W. Wainman Ave. Asheboro NC, 27203. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Randolph County and the nurses who helped get them through this difficult time and to all the friends who have brought food and visited.
