Kenneth David Martin, aged 83, born on March 6, 1943, in Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at Magnolia Gardens Nursing and Rehab in Thomasville. He lived a long and meaningful life, cherishing his roots and the bonds he formed throughout his years.
Kenneth was a devoted husband to Betty Shelton Martin, whose steadfast partnership brought him immeasurable joy and comfort. He is remembered by his sons, Robert Martin and William Christopher Martin, and by his daughter, Terry Marie Purcell.
Kenneth found a deep sense of camaraderie and support in his relationship with his brother, Nathaniel Lewis Martin. The strong sense of family extended to his grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Abell, Daniel Justin Martin, Robert Martin, Jr., Paige Bioxham, and Bobbie Jo Purcell, each of whom he cherished deeply: Elizabeth Ann Abell, Daniel Justin Martin, Robert Martin, Jr., Paige Bioxham, and Bobbie Jo Purcell. His impact also touches the next generation, as he leaves behind great-grandchildren Natalie Bioxham and Hazell Abell.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Roy Henry Martin and Margaret Woodard Martin. Kenneth along with his brother Nathaniel were the last living siblings.
Friends and family are invited to honor and celebrate Kenneth’s life at a Celebration of Life service, which will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, located at 103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239. The family will greet friends following the service or at other times at the residence on Flat Swamp Rd. in Denton.
Kenneth David Martin’s warmth, wisdom, and devotion to his family will be fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him. His legacy resides in the hearts of those he loved and in the values he instilled. He will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
