Mrs. Karen Williams Craven age 58, of N. Snider St., Denton passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, Jan. 22 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Craven was born July 26, 1958 in Spartanburg County, SC to Kenneth Williams and Inez Smith Williams. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton and had an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Williams. Surviving are husband, Christopher Craven of the home; sons, Nathanael Markham and wife Julie of Asheville and Jeff Markham and wife Tamsyn of Goodyear, AZ; daughter, Leigh Ann Freeman and husband Van of Lexington; mother, Inez Smith Williams; brother, Keith Williams and wife Lynn of Thomasville; sisters, Mary Beth Myers and husband Dan of Thomasville and Iris Dykes and husband Kendall of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Slader, Camill, Coreen, Nadia, and Baron Freeman, Sovay Markham, and Calvin Markham. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on N.
