Kaitlin "Katie" Shelby Crook

Kaitlin "Katie" Shelby Crook, age 25, of Denton, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. She was born on January 28, 2000, in Davidson County to her loving parents, Terry Fagg and Melissa Crook. Katie's spirit and dedication were evident in her pursuit of a career in law enforcement, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.

Upon completing her Basic Law Enforcement Training, Katie made her dream a reality by becoming an officer with the Lexington Police Department. Throughout her training, she faced challenges that would intimidate many; however, her determination saw her through even the most difficult of times. Despite concerns expressed by some family members about her ability to complete the training, Katie proved them wrong, showing that her ambition and perseverance could conquer her fears. She was not only a fighter but also a lifelong learner, eagerly looking forward to classes she had signed up for in January, embodying her commitment to her profession.

Katie was immensely proud of her work in law enforcement, which was more than just a job to her—it was etched into her identity. She was devoted to her vocation, always seeking to enhance her knowledge and skills. Those who knew her celebrated her passion, spirit, and her loving dedication to her family and friends.

In addition to her professional achievements, Katie leaves behind cherished family members who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her beloved son Cadence Crook Peacock, her mother Melissa Crook, and her father Terry Fagg. Katie is also survived by her siblings: Jacob Crook, Kinsie Crook Flannery and her husband Joseph and their children, Brently, Gatlin, and Ellisyn;  Savannah Hill, Michael Scott, Jessica Fagg, and Ashley McNeil. She shared a special bond with her dear friend Josh Moore, and she maintained a supportive relationship with her son’s father, Devon Peacock. Her beloved grandmother, Susan Johnson, also carries the memory of her beloved granddaughter.

Katie was preceded in death by her sister, Lena Fagg, as well as her grandfather, James "Jim" Crook, and grandmother, Dana Walters Crook, grandfather, Jesse Fagg.

A visitation in honor of Katie Crook will be held on December 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home - Denton Chapel, located at 103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239. At other times the family will be meeting at the residence on Loflin Rd. in Denton.
