Junior Hunt

Mr. Junior Darrell Hunt, age 73, of High Pine Church Road, Denton NC passed away on June 20, 2025 suddenly in his garden.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Vision Baptist Church with Henry Craven, Rev. Keith Letterman and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home.

Junior was born on June 9, 1952 in Randolph County to Ralph James Hunt and Norma Jean Black Hunt.  He was in the US Army and Army National Guard.  Junior was a sawmiller/logger with Jack Lanier’s Sawmill, Tucker Logging and Timothy Hardister Logging.  He retired in 2014 but continued to run Hunt’s Embroidery & Sporting Goods and Hunt’s Mowing business.

He graduated from Farmer High School in 1970 and was the member of the 1970 Farmer High School State Championship Baseball Team. Junior is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Sue Lanier Hunt whom he married in June 1972.  He is a member of Greater Vision Baptist Church.  He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, rabbit hunting, his beagles – Bone & Venom, the outdoors and His Lord and Savior.

Junior is survived by his daughters, Bambi Hunt Craven and husband Henry of Seagrove, Brandi Hunt Callicutt and husband Brad and Brooke Hunt Garner and husband Jeff both of Denton; grandchildren, Elizabeth McDaniel (Joshua), Luke Craven (Abby), Rebekah Shoemaker (Blake), Samuel Callicutt (Ally), Caleb Callicutt, Campbell Garner and Nathan Garner; great-grandchild, Josie Lou Craven and 1 great-granddaughter on the way.
