J.P. Hamilton

Mr. Joseph Philmore “J.P.” Hamilton, Jr., 98, formerly of South NC HWY 109, Denton passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Lineberry United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Derald Smith officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Mr. Hamilton was born in Montgomery County, NC on March 6, 1923 to Joseph Philmore Hamilton, Sr. and Bertha Moore Hamilton. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. For many years Mr. Hamilton was a long distance truck driver and he also enjoyed farming. In addition to his parents J.P. was also preceded in death by his wife, Allene Deaton Hamilton, a son, Joe Hamilton, and a sister, Doris Clodfelter.

He is survived by sons, Bobby Hamilton (Lea Ann), Jimmy Hamilton (Teresa), Kim Hamilton (Diann), and Phillip “Chop” Hamilton; daughter, Sherry Garner (Charles); daughter-in-law-, Vickie Hamilton; sister, Janell Martin all of Denton; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to Lineberry United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
