Joyce Colon Hughes

Mr. Joyce Colon Hughes, age 88, of Cress Road, Lexington, NC died Wednesday, November 17 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 19 at Holloways Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Craig Barnhill. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Hughes was born March 21, 1922 in Davidson County to Ollie Hughes and Relda Hill Hughes. He was employed with Thornton Knitting Company for many years and later worked for Davidson County Employment and Training. He was a member of Holloways Baptist Church and was married to Virginia Daniel Hughes who died April 15, 1985. He is survived by daughters, Rilda H. Everhart and husband Raeford of Lexington, and Cathy H. Byrd and husband Charles of Charlotte; a sister Rachel H. Gallimore of Denton; grandchildren Doug Everhart, Dana Kistler, David Byrd, and Daniel Byrd; great grandchildren Andrea, Kasey and Emilee Everhart, Madison, Mackenzie, Will and Mason Kistler. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Cress Road Memorials may be directed to the charity of the Donor’s Choice.
