Joy Elaine Stiver, 94, of N. Williams St., Candor, NC went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021, at FirstHealth Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, Dec. 19 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Free and Rev. Jack Phillips. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
Joy was born in Wakarusa, Indiana on November 5, 1927, to Peach Stiver and Nellie Lechlitner Stiver. She was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and devoted her life to serving as a missionary with Children’s Bible Ministries (CBM). Following her retirement, she continued to minister at Christian Camp’s in North Carolina and Tennessee, also to the boys and girls of Candor Elementary School through the Terrific Tuesday program. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, Orange Stiver; sisters, Arlowene Stiver Weldy and Pauline Stiver.
She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews.
