Joy Shaw Baum

Joy Shaw Baum, 66, of Canaan Ch. Rd. Denton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at approximately 2:30 PM on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at High Point Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022 at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shane Smith. A private interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

Joy will lie in state on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM for the public to view at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. The family will not be present.

Joy was born August 30, 1955 to Von and Iris Shaw of Thomasville, NC. She was their first child. Joy married Barry Baum Aug 18 ^th , 1978 and moved to Denton, NC where they built a life together in a close knit small town community. They welcomed daughter Amanda in 1982 completing their family. For the next 29 years, Joy’s life revolved around her family, her church, and her community. She was always more concerned about the well-being of those around her than that of herself. Barry preceded Joy in death in 2008. Joy retired from Ilderton Dodge in 2021. She was very active and loved by her church family at First Baptist Church in Denton.

Joy is survived by her mother, Iris Shaw; daughter, Amanda Baum of Denton; sister, Jill Smith of Thomasville; and brother, Kevin Shaw of Lebanon, TN.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church 383 West Salisbury St. Denton, NC 27239.

Love offerings of food are unnecessary.
