Joseph Williamson

Mr. Joseph Williamson, 73, of Moses Glover Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Alston Brook Nursing Center in Lexington.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Mountain View Independent Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro with Rev. David Hunt officiating.

Joseph was born May 19, 1947 in Lake Charles, LA to George Williamson and Florence Lyons Williamson. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was awarded 2 bronze stars. Mr. Williams was a member of Mountain View Independent Methodist Church in Asheboro and had been employed with Keenen Metals in Asheboro. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Williamson.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Surratt Williamson of the home; step-sons, Scott Surratt (Jeanne) of Welcome, Clark Surratt (Vickie) of Linwood, and Dennis Surratt (Tammy) of Denton; sister, Lois Laney of  Seabeck, ME; niece, Jennifer Wirsing of Deridder, LA; 4 grandchildren, Brent Shipton, Joshua Shipton, Makayla Shipton, and Colby Surratt.
