Joseph "Joe" Lee Foley Iii

October 27, 1939 — June 18, 2025

Joseph “Joe” Lee Foley III, aged 85, of Denton, NC, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 18, 2025. Born on October 27, 1939, in Guilford County, he was the beloved son of Joseph Lee Foley, Jr. and Frances Lois Becker Foley.

Joe was a proud graduate of High Point Central High School, class of 1958, and furthered his education at High Point College, now known as High Point University. He was a successful entrepreneur, co-founding the former White Star Discount Centers and later retiring as CEO and Chairman of former Foley’s Inc.

Joe was deeply involved in his community, being a member of the High Point Order of De Molay, High Point AMBUCS, and the Panther Club. He was a Life Member of the High Point Elks Lodge #1155, where he served as exalted leader in 1988-1989. His faith was important to him, and he was an active member of New Hope Methodist Church in Denton, where he served as treasurer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Burnette Foley, and his cherished daughters, Julie Reagor (Richard), Laura Ashfield, and Keelea Bourse (Eric). Joe was a proud grandfather to Jacqueline Reagor Wilson (Austin), Nicholas Ashfield, Madeline Reagor Kuzminsky (Joe), Veronica Ashfield, Roxanne Bourse, and Wylan Bourse, and a great-grandfather to Silas Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Foley.

Joe was an avid crappie fisherman and enjoyed small game hunting and gardening. He also loved watching baseball, basketball, NASCAR, and football.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Methodist Church with Rev. Denny Gray and Rev. Bobby Lorton officiating. Entombment will follow on Monday, June 23, at 11:00 AM at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to New Hope Methodist Church or to Elk’s National Foundation in c/o High Point Elks Lodge #1155 700 Old Mill Rd. High Point, NC 27265.
