Mr. Joseph "Jay" Scott Hulin, 97, formerly of the Jackson Creek Community passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Mountain Vista Health Park. Born on September 12, 1928, in Randolph County, NC he was the son of Johnny Franklin Hulin and Lillie Allred Hulin.
Jay had dedicated many years to serving as a preacher at Gospel Way Church, in addition to faithfully serving in the ministry Jay also worked as a residential painter, and in earlier years at a saw mill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Embler Hulin, his sons, Roy "R.C." Hulin and Lester Boyd Hulin; his brothers, Lee, Hodge, and Glenn Hulin; sisters, Magdalene Small and Ellen Flannery.
left to cherish his memory are daughter in laws, Kathy Hulin and Debora Hulin; grandchildren, Boyd Hulin, Dale Hulin, and Kira Rodrigues; and 7 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Swaney.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Kathy Hulin on Cid Rd., Lexington. Immediately following the visitation a funeral service will be begin at 2:00 PM in Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Hill and Grandson, Boyd Hulin officiating. Interment will follow at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
