Mrs. Johnsie Harris Sexton, age 87, of Denton died Wednesday, May 14 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. A Graveside service will be 1:30 PM Saturday, May 17 at Fair Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. A Memorial service will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Central United Methodist Church in Denton conducted by Rev. Sharon Lee. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence of Andy and Sarah Morris, Bryon Street, Denton. Mrs. Sexton was born June 4, 1926 in Davidson County to Oscar Stewart Harris and Carrie Pierce Harris. She was a homemaker and retired employee of Fair Grove Elementary School. She was a former member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church and a current member of Central United Methodist Church. She served as a caretaker for her parents until their death. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Sexton who died January 9, 2012 and by a daughter-in-law Swannee Sexton. She is survived by sons, John Thomas Sexton and wife Celia of Claremont and D. Stewart Sexton of Denton, a daughter Sarah Sexton Morris and husband Andy of Denton, a brother Odes Harris and wife Gloria of Camilla, Ga., grandchildren, Meredith Sexton, Laura Sexton, Dan Sexton and wife Kim and Gracie Morris. The family would like to express their gratitude for the faithful and loving care given to Mrs. Sexton during her stay at Mountain Vista Health Park.
