Johnsie Floyd Byerly

Johnsie Floyd Byerly, age 85, of Denton died Tuesday, January 18 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington following several years declining health. Funeral service for Mrs. Byerly will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 21 at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Flynn Richardson and Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mrs. Byerly was born December 3, 1925 in Davidson County to Roby and Mary Parrish Floyd. She was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and had worked at Thornton Knitting. Mrs. Byerly was preceded in death by her husband Roy Byerly who died Dec. 4, 1999, three brothers, Oscar Floyd, Robert Floyd and David Floyd and three sisters, Alice Leach, Frances Byerly and Geneva Gallimore. She is survived by one son, Dale Byerly and wife Jane of Denton, one daughter, Libby Bailey of Denton, one sister, Nellie Clodfelter of Denton, two grandchildren, Craig Byerly of Asheville and Kristie Foster of Denton and two great-grandsons.
