John Riley Beaman, Sr.

TROY- JOHN RILEY BEAMAN, SR. Mr. John Riley Beaman, Sr., of Dairy Road, Troy, age 84, a well known Troy businessman, died Wednesday, January 23 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26 at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Bobby Tyson. Inurnment will follow at Southside Cemetery. Mr. Beamon was born August 30, 1923 in Montgomery County to Charles G. Beaman, Sr and Dora Stout Beamon. He was the retired owner/operator of Beaman Furniture Company in Troy. Before opening his own business he had worked with Eugene Reynolds in the operation of Troy Furniture Company and Troy Funeral Home for 25 years. During the years when funeral homes operated the ambulance service John Riley was know for his ambulance driving skills at high speeds. Mr. Beaman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of Troy Lions Club. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the Naval Seabees. He was first married to Mary Poole Beamon who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles G. Beaman, Jr. and Joseph F. Beaman. He is survived by his wife Jewel Futrell Beaman of the home, a son, John R. Beaman, Jr. and wife Connie; a daughter Pixie Skipper and husband Bill all of Troy. Step Sons, Paul Futrell and wife Mary of Pinehurst and Lex Futrell of Wilmington. A brother David Beaman and wife Nell of High Point, a sister Alda Stokes of Wilmington. Grandchildren Ashley Skipper, Adam Skipper and John R. Beaman, III and wife Amanda. A Great Grandson Lyric Riley Beaman. There are 7 Step Greatchildren and 9 Step Great Grandchildlren. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy and other times at the residence.
