John Howard Thompson, Sr.

April 6, 1947 — July 10, 2022

Mr. John Howard Thompson, Sr., 75, of Cranford Rd., Denton passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, at Community Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Workman officiating.

Mr. Thompson was born April 6, 1947 in Coeburn, VA to Bill Thompson and Ruth Dingus Thompson. He attended Community Baptist Church and was employed with Burlington Industries as a supervisor for many years. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Thompson; and sisters, Nancy Meade and Billie Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Young Thompson of the home; sons, John Thompson, Jr. (Angela), Joseph William Thompson (Heather), and Jeffery Allen Thompson (Amber) all of Denton; 15 grandchildren, Aaron Tyler Thompson, John Kodey Thompson, Dillon Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Courtney McAdams, Julie Thompson, Zoey Thompson, Michael Thompson, J.J. Blalock, Jeffery Thompson, Kara Thompson, Mason Byerly, Nathan Byerly, Payton Byerly, and Jeremy Byerly; 3 great-grandchildren, Corbin McAdams, Cadin McAdams, and Braylenn Marie Thompson.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
