John Daniel Harris, Sr.

Candor-J.D. Harris, Sr. John Daniel Harris, Sr., age 87 of S. Whiskey Rd., Candor, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Candor Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dena White officiating. Burial will follow in the Candor Cemetery A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Harris was born August 22, 1921, the son of Shafter and Elizabeth Chisholm Harris. He was a veteran, serving in the Marines in WWII. Mr. Harris was the co-owner of Huffman Oil Company of Candor and Romac Gas Company. He was a member of Candor Presbyterian Church, a member of the Lions Club and the Good Old Boy’s Club and a Mason. Mr. Harris was a retired member of the Candor Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Louise Hunsucker Harris; 2 sons, John Harris, Jr and wife Faye of Candor, Rick Harris and wife Ivy of Troy; 4 Grandchildren, Laura Harris Hannaford and husband Brett of Concord, Daniel Harris and wife Brandi of Asheboro, Megan Harris Thompson and husband Brandon of Troy and Drew Harris and girlfriend Emily Hamilton of Troy; 3 Great-grandchildren, Leah Hannaford, Kaylee Thompson and Braxton Barnum The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the home of John Harris, Jr, 454 Currie Rd., Candor Memorials may be made to the Candor Presbyterian Church, PO Box 635, Candor NC 27229
