John Daniel Harris, Jr

John Daniel Harris, Jr., died Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.  Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Candor Cemetery, with Dr. Bruce Lax officiating.   Born in Randolph County on September 19, 1949, he was the son of John Daniel “J.D.” and Louise Hunsucker Harris.  He was office manager with Hickman Oil in Troy, a member of Biscoe Presbyterian Church, retired from the Candor Fire Department and the National Guard.  He was a former member of the Candor Lions Club.  He loved his church family and was a loving husband, father, uncle and papa.  He was a good friend to others and he never met a stranger.   He is survived by his wife, Faye Jackson Harris of the home; daughter, Laura Harris Hannaford of Troy; son, Daniel Harris of Candor; brother, Rick Harris and wife Ivy of Troy; 3 Grandchildren, Leah Hannaford, Noah Harris, and Lylah Hannaford; nieces and nephews, Todd Webb, Amy Koenig, Brad Williams, Megan Thompson, and Drew Harris; great-nieces and great-nephews, Raegan Koenig, Jackson Koenig, Georgia Williams, Brody Williams, Kaylee Thompson, Allie Thompson, and Laney Harris.   The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Biscoe Presbyterian Church and other times at the residence on Currie Rd.   Memorials may be made to Biscoe Presbyterian Church, 108 E. Main St., Biscoe NC  27209.   Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
