John Ferrell

Mr. John Melvin Ferrell age 67, of Denton passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his residence. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington conducted by Rev. Mark Hopkins. Mr. Ferrell was born July 5, 1948 in Davidson County to Hubert Hardin Ferrell and Opal Brewer Ferrell. John was a veteran of the US Army. He had attended Wayside Baptist Church and he worked as a carpenter for over 35 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Lee “Chuck” Ferrell. Surviving is wife, Martha Sue Wallace Ferrell of the home; sons, John Ferrell, Jr. (Bobbie) of Thomasville, Branson Lee Ferrell of Lexington, James Hopkins (Sabrina) of Roanoke, VA.; daughter, Gina Giles (Marvin) of Denton; brother, Calvin Ferrell of Denton; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will see friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home.
