John Ellison, Jr.

John Ellison, Jr., aged 51, of Henlawson, WV, and formerly of Denton, NC, passed away on August 14, 2025, at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. Born on July 9, 1974, in Franklin County, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late John Ellison, Sr. and Zona Marie Blankenship Ellison.

John was a man of the Baptist faith and dedicated his career to the concrete and furniture industry as a finisher. He attended South Davidson High School during his time in Denton.

He is predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Michelle E. Huneycutt and Debbie Yarborough, and a special aunt, Peggy B. Mayhorn. John leaves behind cherished memories with his son, John Ellison III “Trey” and his fiancée Kayla of Walburg, and his daughter, Kayla Ellison and her fiancé Alex Stone of Lexington. He is also survived by his sister, Tammy Ferrell of Asheboro, a special uncle, Tom Mayhorn of WV, aunt and uncle Nona and Richard Vinson, aunt Lisha Spry, and five grandchildren, Garrett Ellison, Madalyn Loflin, Paisyn Stone, Hartlyn Stone, and Chandler Stone; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Farmer Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Delaney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to help with John’s final expenses as well as the American Heart Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
