John Branson, Jr.

Mr. John William (Bug) Branson, Jr., age 80 of Mt. Olive Church Road, Morganton, NC and formerly of High Point, died Saturday, Sept. 8 at Grace Hospital in Morganton. A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Floyd Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Danny McMahan Mr. Branson was born March 16, 1927 in Dade County, Florida to John William Branson and Delsie Lane Branson. He was a retired furniture worker and was a veteran of the U S Army. He had lived in the High Point area for most of his live before moving to Morganton 5 years ago. He was married to Magdalene Frank Branson who died January 26, 2000. He was also preceded in death by sisters Alice Reeves, Roberta Ashby and Nancy Burcham and by brothers, Ed, Jack, Robert, Woodie and James. He is survived by sons, John Wayne Branson and wife Carline of Thomasville, Donald Branson of Morganton and a daughter Sherry Wells of Morganton. 3 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchild. Sisters, Betty Newby of High Point and Mary Flowers and husband W L. of Archdale. The family will see friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
