Joel Mccaskill

Warnice Joel McCaskill, 83, of Biscoe, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 27, 2019.  Funeral Service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Rev. Lee McKinney and Rev. Jack Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.   Mr. McCaskill was born February 8, 1936 in Montgomery County, the son of Warnice and Pattie Lee Elam McCaskill of Biscoe.  He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections after 20 years of service.  He was a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor NC.  Joel enjoyed cooking his chicken stew for large crowds, enjoyed time with his family and friends, and spending time with his wife Yvonne at their mountain home in Celo NC.   He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvonne Thompson McCaskill; daughters, Doris McCaskill Whitley and husband Jack of  Asheboro, and Nita McCaskill McKinney and husband Lee of Cameron; son Tim McCaskill and wife Julie of Biscoe; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.   The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor.     Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
