Joan Daisy Lucas Snyder, age 91, of Denton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Brookstone Retirement Center in Lexington. Joan was born on January 16, 1934, in London, England, to her loving parents, Albert Edward Lucas and Emily Barton Lucas.

Having been raised in London, Joan’s journey led her to meet her beloved husband, Alfred “Al” Eugene Snyder, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. This meeting would forever change her life, as she made the momentous decision to move to the United States to build a life together with him.

Joan was an esteemed member of Lick Creek Baptist Church, a community where she found warmth and fellowship throughout her life. Her spiritual life and her commitment to her church were evident to all who knew her.

Joan is survived by her three devoted daughters, Donna Myers and her husband Alan of Lexington, Sherrie Macdermod and her husband Glenn of Mooresville, and Janice Snyder and her partner Morris Boatner of Northlake, Texas. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Greyson Myers and Alexandra Myers, along with her step-grandchild, Casey Macdermod.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Al, her parents Albert and Emily Lucas, and her sister Pat Blackburn.

A graveside service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Lick Creek Baptist Church Cemetery located at 2574 Lick Creek Church Road, Denton, NC 27239 officiated by Rev. Steve Kiger. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember her remarkable life and the positive impact she had on those around her.

Joan will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her unwavering spirit, and the deep love she cultivated for her family and friends throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will always be held close to the hearts of those she touched.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County or to the Alzheimer's Association.
