Joan Spoon Garner

Joan Spoon Garner, age 79 of Noell Avenue, Denton died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at High Point Regional Cancer Center. A Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sharon Lee. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. Garner was born January 20, 1934 in Randolph County to Ernest Spoon and Elgie Suggs Spoon. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, a member of Central United Methodist Church, and retired from Council Craftsman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Garner in 1992 and by a sister, Ernestine Murrow. Survivors include, daughters, DeLisa Garner and Tammy G. Johnson and son Lowe Garner and wife Kathy, all of Denton The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Tammy Johnson on Newsom Avenue in Denton.
