Joan (Butch) Warren Nance

Mrs. Joan Marie Warren (Butch) Nance, age 88, of Canaan Church Rd., Denton died Thursday, March 20 at her home. Funeral service for Mrs. Nance will be 3:00 PM Sunday, March 23 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Sandy Young. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Nance was born December 8, 1925 in Pennsylvania to Willard Wesley Warren and Isabelle Cowperthwaite Warren. She worked with her husband on their farm and in later years she had worked for Dr. Jerry S. Bates and attended Canaan United Methodist Church. She was married to Clinard B. Nance who died March 12, 1984 and was preceded in death by a great grandson; Logan Hazelwood. She is survived by one son, Sheldon Craig Nance and companion Joy Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, SC, two daughters, Sharon Harrison and husband Kenneth and Gale Varner and husband, Carl, all of Denton, Emily Nance, daughter-in-law of Denton, grandchildren; (7) Rodney (Christi) and Todd Nance, Tracey H. Jones, Marcus D. Harrison, Amelia V. McIntyre (Gene), Dustin C. Varner (Kerri), and Madelyn B. Varner, great grandchildren; (10) Zachary Lanier, Annabelle McIntyre, Elijah McIntyre, Kyrstin and Kate Varner, Haylee and Lanie Harrison, Sidney, Chynna, and Ashya Burleson, great-great grandchildren; (2) Peyton Blackmon and Gracie Marie Burleson. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at their respective homes.  Memorials can be made to the Denton Public Library.
