Jimmy Monroe Saunders

Jimmy Monroe Saunders, 82, of Tarry Church Rd., died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Graveside Service, with military rites, will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Saunders-Hicks Family Cemetery, with Rev. Bucky Davis officiating. Born in Montgomery County on June 2, 1940, he was the son of Dallas and Blanche Harris Saunders. He had worked in Maintenance at the foundry, and was a veteran of the US Navy. Jimmy loved playing cards and racing. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Hicks. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Lewis Saunders of the home; son, Rodney Dale Hicks of the home; daughters, Brigette Hicks of Biscoe and Myra Hicks of Candor; grandchildren, Dalton Hicks, Billy Hicks and Tasha Hicks; several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 PM prior to the graveside service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, and other times at the residence on Tarry Church Rd. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
