Jimmy Carroll Runyon, 74, of Farmer Rd., Denton, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospitals in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be 3:30 PM Thursday at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Born in Tupelo, Arkansas on August 23, 1937, he was the son of John L. and Eva Long Runyon. He was a retired plumber from Coleman Plumbing and Heating and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters union #469. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Marckel Shane Runyon in 1987 and Tony Cook in 2009, a brother, Bobby Runyon and 2 Half-brothers, Deli and Doc Runyon. He is survived by his wife, Norma Browning Cook Runyon of the home; 3 sons, Jim Runyon of Minnesota, Larry Cook of Chandler, AZ and Mike Cook of Chambersburg, PA; 4 daughters, Kathy Browning and Debbie Davey, both of Dewey AZ, Sharon Norris of Rexburg ID and Rebecca Norris of Las Vegas NV; 2 brothers, Johnny and Jessie Runyon, both of Arkansas; 2 sisters, Margaret Perkins of Missouri and Madeline Cotton of Arkansas; 27 Grandchildren; and number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
