Jessie Saunders Whitley

Mrs. Jessie Saunders Whitley, 95, of S. Whiskey Rd., Candor, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at her residence. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Macedonia Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Matthew Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Candor Cemetery. Mrs. Whitley was born January 16, 1920 in Montgomery County, the daughter of Leo and Belle Lamonds Saunders. She was the head dietitian at Samarcand Manor. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, James Whitley of the home; son, Larry Whitley of Sanford; daughter, Jane Whitley of Troy; brother, Leonard Saunders of Wilmington, formerly of Troy; sister, Dorothy Stevens of Biscoe; 3 granddaughters; 4 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday in the fellowship hall at Macedonia Presbyterian Church.
