Jessie Owens

Jessie Viola Bean Owens, age 107 formerly of NC HWY 8, Lexington died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Summerville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Flynn Richardson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She was born January 19, 1906 in Davidson County to Bud Bean and Jane Bean. She was the oldest member of Summerville Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband; William Owens on July 14, 1979. Ms. Owens is survived by her daughter; Charlotte Owens of Lexington and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home. Memorials can be made to Summerville Baptist Church.
