Jerry Harris Thompson, 72, of Samarcand Rd., Biscoe, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Phillips and Rev. Michael Free officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Oak Christian Church Cemetery. Born December 17, 1944 in Montgomery County, he was the son of Risdon Webb and Ariel Mae Cole Thompson. A member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, he was also a former deacon, he was also a former chief of Eagle Springs Fire Dept. A farmer most of his life, he raised peaches, chickens and tobacco. Later, he drove an oil truck and delivered fuel for Candor Oil for 20 years. Jerry is to be remembered by most as a fun-loving people person. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Comer, Mozelle Hicks and Ruth DeWitt. He is survived by his wife, Janice McLean Thompson of the home; 3 sons, Chris Thompson (Melissa) of Kernersville, Ken Thompson (Kristen) of Biscoe, and Kevin Thompson (Kelly) of Mt. Gilead; 3 brothers, Claude Thompson (Shirley) of Biscoe, Roger Thompson (Linda) of Troy, and Hugh Thompson (Dianne) of Greensboro; 2 sisters, Yvonne McCaskill (Joel) of Biscoe, JoAnn Greene (Cecil) of Biscoe; 7 grandchildren, Faith, Hunter, Garrett, Sarah, Ethan, Nate, and Evy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
