Jerry Lee Surratt

Mr. Jerry Lee Surratt, age 81, of Sexton Road, Denton NC passed away Friday morning on May 8, 2026 at his residence.

The family will receive friends 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2026 prior to the service at Canaan Global Methodist Church. A funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. at Canaan Global Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Johnny Daniels officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Jerry was born on December 30, 1944 in Guilford County to George Lee Surratt and Blanche Thompson Surratt. Jerry was a member of Canaan Global Methodist Church and he attended Chapel Hill Methodist Church. He was active in the Woodman Life.

Jerry graduated from Denton High School and went on to earn an associate degree in Electronics from Randolph Technical College. Following graduation, he worked at the shipyard in Newport News before returning home in 1968 to establish Jerry’s TV and Radio Service, which he successfully operated for more than 30 years.

Later, Jerry retired from the Davidson County Schools, where he faithfully served in exceptional children’s bus services. He was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast who loved music and was a devoted member of his church and choir.

He and his devoted wife Marvene were married for 52 years and enjoyed many travels together.

He is survived by his loving wife Sue Marvene Elliott Surratt; a son, Brantley Surratt and his wife Jamie; a daughter, Courtney Surratt Howard and her husband Matt all of Denton; grandchildren, Savannah Surratt (Ayden), Ryleigh Howard and Sawyer Surratt; brother-in-law, Karl Elliott and his wife Susan; nieces, Janet (Britt), Elliott and Linda Moore and Holly McSwain; nephew, Eric Johnson (Mandy);  "Friendship sister", Glenda Futrell, 
"Friendship sisters-in-law" Gloria McSwain and Shirley Glover.
