Jerry Cagle, 74, of Denton N.C., left this world to begin his heavenly life on March 12, 2014 surrounded by his adoring family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15 at Randolph Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Rev. Melvin Morton. Burial will follow in the Randolph Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence on New Hope Road.. Born April 13, 1939 in High Point, N.C. to Dyle and Ila Mae Cagle, Jerry grew up in New Hope, NC, attending Farmer School before moving to Florida and graduating from Tarpon Springs High School in 1957. It was in Florida Jerry met the love of his life and wife of 52 years - Jean. They were married in 1961 and moved back to North Carolina in 1966 where they built a simple yet wonderful life together. Jerry was extremely proud of his family and dedicated himself to bringing happiness to the ones he loved. He was an excellent provider, wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, and loyal friend. Jerry also loved to eat (fish and BBQ especially), enjoyed civil war history, old cars, gardening and most of all...his church. He was extremely patriotic and cared deeply about the future of our country, spending time each day reading the news and researching current events. He held passionate beliefs and shared them with anyone willing to listen. It was his way of being an active citizen; to educate others on these events and their effect on American culture and values. While he would never admit it, Jerry was very successful in life. He leaves behind wife Jean, three children: Lisa, Wayne, Wanda, father Dyle and his wife Martha, two brothers: Bob and Bill, seven grandchildren: Amanda, Jeremy, Aaron, Jenna, Noah, Justin, Beth, eight great grand children: Deanna, Liam, Finley, Seeley, Holden, Dominic, Austen, Payton, and his spoiled dog Shoeless; all who love him dearly and will forever. His deep and genuine desire to help others brought joy to many people. He truly made a difference in the world and will be sorely missed. Memorials may be made to Goodwill Fellowship Church, 1748 Jim Elliott road, Denton, NC 27239.
