Mr. Jefferson “Jeff” Elwood Swaringen age 81, of Farmer Rd., Denton died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, Jan. 16 at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Charles Tanner. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens with honors by the Davidson County Rescue Squad. Mr. Swaringen was born June 10, 1934 in Montgomery County to Virge Swaringen and Lillie Blake Swaringen. Jeff had worked for Thomasville Furniture Industries, served in the Davidson County Rescue Squad for 20 years, and was member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Dewey Swaringen. Surviving are, wife; Geneva Haywood Swaringen of the home; daughters, Brenda Dorsett (Raeford) of Denton and Tammy Reid of Walburg; sister, Edith Poe of Robbins; 3 grandchildren, Kristi Burnette (Morris), Jonathon Reid (Kristina), and James Ash; 4 great grandchildren, Kaleb, Aubree, McKenzie, and Laci Faye; and special friends, Donna and Guy Gooch. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home on Farmer Rd.
