Jean Marie Branch Brown, aged 77, of Denton, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on April 3, 2025. Born on September 5, 1947, in Charlottesville, VA, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dorsey Branch and Martha Harris Branch.
Jean dedicated her career to working as a cardboard box inspector and was a cherished member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church in Asheboro. Known for her kindness and welcoming nature, Jean brought joy to those around her with her warm smile. She had a deep love for her church, her family, and her cherished doggies. Jean found happiness in trips to the beach, enjoying good food, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Brown; her sons, Earl McKinney and his wife Tammy, and Michael McKinney and his wife Wendy; her step-son, James Brown and his wife Lynn; her step-daughter, Tracy Morgan and her husband Darrell. Jean is also survived by her brothers, Frank Branch, Garland Branch, and her twin brother, Russell Branch, with whom she shared a special bond; her sisters, Shirley Branch and Teeny Shumaker; her seven grandchildren, Amber, Shawn, Helen Marie, Michael, Faith, Hope, and Melody; and her five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Molly, Jeremy, Kailynn, and Liam.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Gracie Oneal, Estelle Kidd, Mary Hamilton, and Lorene Perry.
A funeral service to honor Jean's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jeff Boles. Interment will follow at Denton Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the funeral at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and at other times at the residence on Karen Dr.
